DESCRIPTION:Philip Garrahan will contrast Swindon’s reputation for railway engineering with its important social history. It was once a complete company town. When the outside observer could be forgiven for thinking the GWR and Swindon were the same.  \nThe new town was built on a greenfield site with innovations in its Railway Village\, Medical Social Fund\, Mechanics’ Institute\, Art School and much more. Our modern nostalgia about railways may overlook how distinctive Swindon was in the age of steam. Well\, here’s your chance!\n The Modern Calligraphy Co are holding their first calligraphy workshop in Swindon and would love you to join them. \n This beginner-friendly workshop is all about learning the fundamentals of modern calligraphy in an enjoyable\, stress-free way. No need to worry if your handwriting isn’t perfect or if you’ve never picked up a dip pen before—they will show you the simple tricks to help you create stunning lettering\, no matter your starting point.\n \nOver 2.5 hours\, you will be guided through the basics\, from mastering those smooth strokes to connecting letters and forming beautiful words and phrases.
